Dr. Graeme West

About me

I am a Lecturer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde.

My research is in the area of intelligent decision support systems for through life management of assets, particularly nuclear power stations. This encompasses a broad range of fields including artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and signal and image processing. Through my research I have delivered software systems to the nuclear industry which supports operational decisions for continued operation and lifetime extension for the UK's fleet of Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors and underpinned one of my department's REF2014 Impact Case Studies.

I am Principal Investigator on three projects in the Advanced Nuclear Research Centre, focussed on improved understanding of the health of nuclear reactor cores, partnering with EDF Energy and Bruce Power. I am co-investigator on the EPSRC Prosperity Partnership Grant: Delivering Enhanced Through-Life Nuclear Asset Management. I am also co-investigator on the Innovate UK funded MAPS - Mosaicing for Automatic Pipe Scanning project in collaboration with NNL, WideBlue, Inspectahire and Sellafield Ltd.
